Most Wi‑Fi issues come down to three things: coverage, congestion, or equipment/configuration. This guide walks you through the fastest checks first, then the deeper fixes.

Step 1: Confirm it’s Wi‑Fi (not your internet)
- Test with an Ethernet cable (if possible). If Ethernet is also slow, the ISP line or router is the issue.
- Run a speed test near the router, then in the problem room.
Step 2: Fix the common dropouts
- Reboot properly: modem/ONT → router → mesh nodes (one at a time).
- Update firmware on your router/mesh system.
- Split 2.4GHz/5GHz if devices keep hopping networks (common with smart devices).
Step 3: Improve coverage (dead zones)
- Move the router higher and central (avoid cupboards and behind TVs).
- Use a mesh Wi‑Fi system for larger homes/offices.
- For the best results, use Ethernet backhaul for mesh nodes.
Step 4: Reduce congestion and interference
- Change channels (especially for 2.4GHz).
- Keep routers away from microwaves, cordless phones, and thick concrete walls.
- Separate guest Wi‑Fi and IoT devices from your main devices where possible.
